We give support to people over the age of eight years old with the following eating disorders: anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, and eating disorders not otherwise specified.
As a multidisciplinary team we can give support in one-to-one sessions, group sessions, or both, depending on someone’s need. Support includes psychological approaches like psycho-education and cognitive behavioural therapy. We also provide practical and creative activities for someone to get involved in.
When referred to us we will work with the person on a recovery programme. The recovery programme is designed with three aims in mind; to reduce eating disorder symptoms, help with physical recovery, and encourage psychological change.
When someone is referred to us, we meet with them to see if we can be of help. If we can help, we will work with the person on a recovery programme. The length of the recovery programme depends on the complexity of the eating disorder. The programme is designed with three aims in mind: to reduce eating disorder symptoms, help with physical recovery, and encourage psychological change.
Within our team we have a dietitian, mental health nurse, occupational therapist, STR worker, and psychologist. We can give support in one-to-one sessions, group sessions, or both, depending on someone’s need. Support includes psychological approaches like psycho-education and cognitive behavioural therapy. We also provide practical and creative activities for someone to get involved in.
We also work with carers and health and community organisations to help people learn more about eating disorders. We try to involve carers and families as much as we can. Carers and families can help us make care plans, and can also be a part of the care plan. We also try to help families and carers learn more about eating disorders.
