(Un)spoken word is the name given to a set of poetry events the Trust held in 2021 and 2022, and our first published volume of poetry, launched on World Poetry Day 2023 (21 March).
Our spoken word events were very special; a space where everyone connected to write and share poetry, or simply listen to others.
We chose the name (Un)spoken word because talking about mental health, wellbeing and life can sometimes be difficult and remain unspoken.
We hope you enjoy our first published book of poetry which you can read here. There is also space at the end of the book to write your own poems; we hope you feel inspired to do so.
We are holding a new (Un)spoken word poetry event on 10 October 2023, 2-4pm. See below for details.
Our first in person poetry group!
Please join us on World Mental Health Day 2023, 10 October 2-4pm for a special poetry group where you will have the opportunity to:
- hear poems from (Un)spoken Word
- share your own poetry with others
- take part in a poetry workshop
- help us shape and grow our poetry group in the future
Everyone is welcome, including those who would simply like to listen to poetry.

We want to distribute our poetry book to our patients, service users and the wider community.
There is no cost, but we are asking readers to consider a donation to our Trust charity Brighter Lives. Charity funds raised will go towards supporting patient activities on our wards and in the community.
You can donate at the (Un)spoken Word Just Giving page.
