Free Internet access is available for patients, visitors, and carers across Black Country Healthcare NHS Trust Foundation sites through our NHS Wi-Fi network. This service is provided by Purple.
To connect:
- Search for “NHS Wi-Fi” on your device.
- Read the terms and conditions.
- Press ‘accept and connect.’
You will then be redirected to the Internet. Please note that NHS Wi-Fi may not be available in all areas of the Trust.
Features:
NHS Wi-Fi offers a secure, stable connection for downloading health apps, accessing emails, browsing, and finding health information. Some content is blocked. This service is not intended for TV streaming or phone/video calls.
Access and Authentication:
Users must log in with an email address and agree to Purple’s Terms and Privacy Policy, as they are the provider of this service.
Monitoring and Privacy:
When using public Wi-Fi, it’s important to stay aware of security risks and the information you share over the network.
To protect your device:

Be cautious when clicking on links or downloading attachments from unfamiliar sources.
What Purple collects:
- Submitted information: Email address.
- Additional information: Visited websites, surveys, transactions (excluding financial data).
- Device information: Device details.
- Location information: If location is enabled.
- Network information: IP addresses, ISPs, browser type, language, and timestamps.
This data may be shared with the Trust for investigations in accordance with GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
You can view and access the information held about you by Purple by logging in and accessing their Data Portal at https://mydata.purple.ai/.
