We have completed some exciting hospital development schemes as part of our ongoing estates strategy and investment into services.
Eradicating dormitory ward accomodation
We secured almost £50m investment to refurbish some of our older adult wards. This funding is part of a national scheme to eradicate dormitory style accommodation in mental health settings.
Our first scheme was the building of a new purpose-built facility for older adults in Walsall - Dorothy Pattison Older Adult unit. This new unit opened in February 2025.
More recently, we invested £30m into the refurbishment of Edward Street Hospital, which opened in Mid-October 2025.
