In recent days, our nation has experienced events that have deeply impacted communities across the country. As a Trust, we are saddened by what we have seen and want to express our support for our service users, those in our communities and with our staff. We understand that this is a developing situation and our primary concern is the wellbeing of those in our communities.
As the Lead Provider for mental health, learning disabilities and autism across the Black Country we are proud to work alongside our communities to understand the real day-to-day experiences of the people who live here so that we can be part of meaningful, sustainable and positive change. In challenging times we want you to know that we continue to stand alongside you, to support one another and to seek peaceful solutions. We are here for you.
We understand that many of you may feel anxious and concerned about the future. We will continue to provide support and resources, some of which are detailed below.
- If experiencing common mental health problems such low mood, anxiety, stress and depression you can self-refer into our Talking Therapies services. These services are available to residents aged over 18 in Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton. More details can be found here: https://staffzone.blackcountryhealthcare.nhs.uk/talking-therapies
- If you are in crisis or need of urgent mental health support you can contact NHS 111 and selection Option 2. Once here, you will be put through to our local Black Country crisis service. Specially trained mental health staff will speak to you, discuss your urgent needs, and assess the best way to support you depending on your symptoms. More details about our urgent help offer can be found here: https://staffzone.blackcountryhealthcare.nhs.uk/contact-us/help-crisis
- If you have physically harmed yourself, or if you feel your life is at risk, then please access emergency care (A&E or 999).
We are also calling on people to challenge what they see online, report where appropriate and consider the source of the news or post to help avoid spreading misinformation.
We are working closely with other NHS organisations, local leaders, police and emergency services, and community groups to promote peace, dialogue, and understanding. Together, we can build stronger communities.
